Laura is a science communicator. But what exactly is a science communicator? In a nutshell, it's someone who presents scientific information to non-experts in a way they can understand. Science is such a big part of society (like technology, medicine, predicting the weather) but it can be really confusing - so communicating science allows people to clearly see what makes the world tick.
She currently works as a Junior Consultant at Think Lab, the UK's first full-service communications practice to specialise in supporting the scientific community. Alongside working at Think Lab, she is also Publicity Officer and a founding member of Science London (the British Science Association's Central London branch) and a tour guide at the Science Museum. She holds an MSc in Science Communication from Imperial College and an International Honours degree in Human Genetics from the University of Leeds and the University of California.
Laura loves thinking outside of the box when it comes to science communication, and she likes to do it in a way that is interesting and fun for the audience, but helps them to make well-informed choices based on scientific infomation. Writing, events, exhibitions, websites, graphic design, art, photography, audio recordings and documentary filming are all sources of inspiration in her work.
